The Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Basra, received in its first year the first-stage students accepted for this year 2024-2025 within the central admission and parallel education, in the presence of the Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Jalil Ismail, Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department, Dr. Alaa Falah Abdul Hassan, Head of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Ali Ahmed, and a group of students and faculty members. On this occasion, Dr. Ali Ahmed, Head of the Scientific Committee, gave a lecture in which he welcomed the new students and explained the most important features of university education and its radical difference from preparatory education. He urged students to make every effort for science and learning to reach scientific research at the same time. He defined the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, saying that it is a newly established department based on scientific and technological development and the scientific revolution taking place in the civilized world. The Department of Mechatronics aims to provide multi-functional education in the field of industrial applications, robotics and artificial intelligence, as this specialization combines mechanics, electricity and computers, and job opportunities are available in it Factories are currently moving towards automation, stressing that the Mechatronics Engineering Department will provide advanced curricula in the field of engineering, which will enhance students’ capabilities and enable them to compete in local and international markets. He also recommended that students adhere to the special regulations and instructions, adhere to the uniform and all university instructions.
