Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazim, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab The Continuing Education Unit at the college organized a workshop on The impact of obesity on the body's joints, which was lectured by the lecturer Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Ridha Akbar, a faculty member at the college. The workshop included an explanation of the definition of obesity and its causes The mechanism for increasing the percentage of swelling in the knee, back and feet joints as a result of weight gain. It also discussed the method of calculating obesity The repercussions and complications of obesity before and after anesthetizing the patient in surgical operations. Excess body weight also disturbs the joints, especially the joints that support daily activities such as walking, standing, bending, etc. This load on the body accelerates wear. This contributes to some cases, such as osteoporosis.In addition to its impact on joint health The workshop aimed to show that obesity is nothing but excess weight, so by reducing weight, individuals can prevent the consequences of obesity. Weight loss plays an important role in reducing the burden on joints and improves overall bone and joint health.
