The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific lecture entitled Research Impact Metrics. The lecture aims to introduce researchers to the basics of research impact metrics through several quick metrics to ensure research quality and encourage research collaborators and investors.
The scientific lecture, given by Professor Dr. Salman Sahib Atshan, included a detailed explanation of the different metrics for measuring research quality and its impact on the researcher and the reputation of the journal, such as the number of citations and the journal impact factor, as well as the classification of journals and other important metrics used to measure research quality and its impact on research collaborators and investment.
The scientific lecture recommended urging professors to follow the methodology of sound research and publish in sound international journals within Scopus and Clara Vit containers for the purpose of their positive impact on the reputation of the college and the university and increasing the university's global ranking.
In conclusion, the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Asaad Muhammad Kazim, praised the efforts made by Prof. Dr. Salman Sahib to hold such seminars to raise awareness and motivate professors to publish in solid containers. He recommended repeating this lecture in the second semester due to its scientific and research importance.
