




University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Women’s Role in Economic Development: The Census Model as a Tool for Balance and Development
On Monday, November 18, 2024, the College of Administration and Economics – Qurna/Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar titled “The Role of Women in Economic Development: The Census Model as a Tool for Achieving Balance and Development.”
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of the population census as a strategic tool to enhance women’s role in economic development, focusing on achieving balance and sustainable development within society.
The event featured valuable discussions presented by a group of researchers and specialists in this field, including:
1. Professor Ahmed Faleh Abdulrahim from the Ministry of Planning – Basrah Statistics Directorate, who provided an analysis of the role of the census in shaping women-supportive economic policies.
2. Assistant Lecturer Eman Raad Fattah from the University of Basrah – College of Administration and Economics, who discussed the impact of women’s participation in economic development from a statistical perspective.
3. Professor Haider Munem Ramadan from the Ministry of Planning – Qurna Statistics Directorate, who reviewed local and international experiences in using the census to support women’s issues.
4. Dr. Basma Kadhim Hassan from the College of Administration and Economics – Qurna, who presented insights on enhancing developmental policies through the analysis of population data.
At the end of the seminar, certificates of appreciation were presented by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Adnan Farhan Al-Jorani, to the speakers in recognition of their significant efforts in making the event a success.
