Discussion Panel Held on "Bottle Brush Tree" and Its Pharmacological Features
The Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants at the College of Pharmacy organized a scientific discussion session regarding the Bottle Brush tree (Callistemon).
The session featured a presentation by **Dr. Ola Adel**, who detailed the tree's classification within the Myrtaceae family. She highlighted its distinct brush-like flowers, salt tolerance, and preference for direct sunlight. A key characteristic noted was the citrus-like aromatic scent emitted by the leaves when crushed.
The goal of the panel was to explore the plant's biological activity and its role in disease management and environmental control. Furthermore, the session discussed the chemical active ingredients found in the leaves and the technical methods for extracting essential oils from them.
