The staff of the Polymer Research Center at the University of Basra visited the National Orphanage. Our visit to the Orphanage was an experience full of lessons and diverse feelings. Upon our arrival, we were drawn to the atmosphere of familiarity among the children despite the difficult circumstances they went through. They were smiling despite everything, which deeply affected us. We talked to them and those moments were full of innocence and hope. We felt as if they were just feeling cared for and loved. In those moments, we realized how important it is to be keen to support and assist them.
Through this visit, we provided them with moral, psychological and material support and emphasized the importance of volunteer work and its impact on the lives of these children. We added joy and happiness to their day, but we realized that giving is not measured by money or tangible things, but by kind words and the time we dedicate to them.
