The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing at the University of Basra organized a symposium on vaccinations and their impact on disease prevention. The workshop was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Sundus Baqir Dawood, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and a number of faculty members, affiliates and students of the college. Professor Dr. Sajjad Salem Issa, Assistant Professor Hajar Salem Issa, and Assistant Professor Iman Taha Abdul Hassan, members of the teaching staff, lectured in it.The workshop dealt with immunizations or what is commonly called “vaccinations”; a strong wall to protect public health, and a means of protecting a person from contracting a group of infectious diseases. Immunization saves the lives of two to three million people every year around the world, as vaccines play a pivotal role in reducing child mortality.The workshop discussed the history of vaccinations, how vaccinations work, and the benefits of vaccinations against infectious diseases.
