Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, and the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Zahra Mohammed, the pentathlon Football Championship, which is being held at the Faculty of Fine Arts, kicked off today. The first match in the Championship took place between the teams of professors and the art education department, while the second match witnessed a competition between the teams of the Departments of plastic and Performing Arts.
The matches were held at the Faculty of Fine Arts Stadium, where they were supervised by assistant teacher Ali al-Salhi. The matches are scheduled to be played with two matches per day during the tournament period.
In the opening match, which brought together the two teams of professors and the art education department, there was great excitement, as the match ended in a positive draw 3-3 after strong performances from both teams. Both teams gave outstanding performances, the faculty professors and the art education department scored wonderful goals that added a high-class competitive character to the match.
As for the second match, it brought together the teams of the plastic and performing arts departments, and ended with the victory of the plastic arts team 3-2. The players of the plastic arts showed ingenuity in organized attacks and accurate passes, achieving their first victory in the tournament.
It is worth mentioning that the tournament will continue over the coming weeks, amid great anticipation by students and professors to follow the rest of the matches and encourage support for different teams.
The Department of sports activities at the Faculty of Fine Arts wishes all participants success in the tournament, motivating them to provide the best sports performance.
