The Department of History at the Faculty of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a scientific seminar on the historical analysis of terrorist extremist groups and ways to confront them.
The seminar aimed to identify the historical roots of terrorist ideas, their dangers to national security and the role of society in confronting them.
The seminar, which was presented by a number of the department's teachers, included the concept of terrorism, the historical roots of terrorist movements, their dangers to national security, their foreign connections, and their exploitation of political developments in Iraq.
The seminar called on researchers to pay attention to scientific research dealing with terrorism and extremism, and to immortalize the martyrs and the battles they fought in school and educational curricula.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Imad Maklef Assal, Dr. Abadi Ahmed Abadi and teacher Alia Abdul Hussein Saeed.
