A research team from the University of Basra was able to register two new strains of the virus family. The College of Nursing at the University of Basra had a share in this distinguished research. The College of Nursing was represented by the lecturer Dr. Nour Jabbar, a faculty member at the college, with the participation of an elite group of professors from the University of Basra. The researchers included Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Nima Habib, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Hussein Maklaf, and Consultant Physician Dr. Hassanein Muhammad Al-Amiri.From registering two new strains of the virus family LC852202 and C852201 and under the accession numbers in the BK Polyomavirus Gene Bank
It is worth noting that this virus is considered a cause of many diseases in immunocompromised people such as patients who take immunosuppressive drugs, as the activity of the virus in them leads to risks for organ transplant patients. In addition to healthy people, as it remains present inside their bodies without symptoms.It is noteworthy that the first registration at the country level was documented in the gene bank of the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
