
The University of Basra organized a workshop titled "Modern Mechanisms of Strategic Management," held by the College of Administration and Economics – Qurna, Department of Project Management, for the fourth-year students. The workshop was supervised by Assoc. Prof. Basma Kazzar Hassan and Dr. Wesan Hadi Faihan. It focused on transforming the concept of strategic management from a theoretical framework to practical application, exploring modern mechanisms to achieve organizational goals.
The workshop included real-world examples of strategic management, such as Apple’s rise to the top of the world, Amazon’s game-changing approach, and the Phoenix Project for transitioning to clean energy. It emphasized the added value of strategic planning in the success of organizations by showcasing success stories of global companies.
At the end of the workshop, several objectives were achieved, including understanding the dimensions and importance of strategic decisions for organizations. Participants also gained awareness of the essential concepts and practices related to strategy, from formulation to implementation. Additionally, skills in planning and organizing were developed to enhance the effectiveness of strategic management tasks, and participants practiced business analysis within the framework of planning and organizing processes within work teams.
