A master's thesis at the College of Education for Girls at the University of Basra examined "Narrative representation in the short story in the Arabian Gulf, Maryam Al-Saedi as a model".
The thesis presented by the student Ayat Jassim Muhammad in the Department of Arabic Language aimed to approach narrative representation in the short story in the Arabian Gulf, as the research showed how to employ narrative representation and make it a pivotal line in constructing the writer's narrative works.
The thesis included three chapters, the first chapter dealt with characters and their types, and in the second section, the inventory of characters, their patterns and events, and the allocation of time and place, which are among the most important modern techniques for narrative text.
The third chapter included narrative topics, as the multiplicity of topics in the writer's works came in response to multiple social, historical, religious and cultural requirements.
The thesis concluded that the character is not only a focus in moving events, but it expresses the human issues and social positions that the writer wants to convey to the reader.
