A scientific study prepared by the teacher Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Jarri Muftan, Eng. Ammar Abdul-Jabbar Kazem and Prof. Adnan Sultan Abdul Nabi in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education / Qurna at the University of Basra examined the electrochemical appraisal of the Gemini surfactant as an inhibitor to reduce corrosion: a simulation study to relate the inhibition efficiency with the electronic characteristics.
The study, which was published in the International Journal of Corrosion and Scale Inhibition, which is located in the second quarter Q2 within Scopus containers, included the preparation of Gemini surfactant compounds, which were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors of crude oil pipelines by electrochemical impedance and potentiodynamic polarization techniques, and then the study of metal surface properties by scanning electron microscopy technology, where these techniques proved the high efficiency of the prepared compounds in inhibiting Corrosion too. The results of the study reached a study of the mechanism of inhibition and the mechanism of adsorption on the surface of the metal based on the DMol3 / EPS programme and the latest theoretical methods Monte Carlo simulation Fermi level, and Partial density of states, in addition to that, the distribution of electron density on the atoms of compounds was studied Mulliken Charge Population and the study of electronic properties represented by molecular orbitals, electrostatic potential and many other properties.
