The University of Basra condemns in the strongest terms the armed attack on the home of Professor Dr. Ali Darb Shaaban, Dean of the College of Education in Al-Qurna District, who is one of the most prominent academic and administrative figures in northern Basra.
Targeting a high-ranking academic figure who is characterized by honesty, integrity and dedication to serving the educational and teaching process represents a blatant attack on the scientific and human values that the university seeks to establish.
While the university expresses its full solidarity with Professor Dr. Ali Darb and his honorable family, it calls on the competent security authorities to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and work to pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice as soon as possible to ensure the security and safety of the academic community.
The University of Basra reaffirms its commitment to defending its educational and administrative cadres, and calls on all relevant parties to stand together against any threat that affects the educational process or targets the security and safety of academic cadres.
