University of Basra organizes a scientific symposium on the cognitive reference of the Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt
The Department of Qur’anic Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Basra, organized a scientific symposium entitled “The Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them): the cognitive reference in Islamic thought.”
The symposium aimed to shed light on the practical connection between the Holy Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt, as they are the basic cognitive reference in Islamic thought.
The symposium, which was presented by a number of thinkers and professors, included a deep explanation of the close relationship between the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and how to understand and comprehend Islam through them. The lecturers explained that the Ahl al-Bayt are an indispensable intellectual and religious reference in interpreting the meanings of the Holy Qur’an, as they were the closest to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, and represent the ideal model in applying his teachings.
The symposium also addressed many topics that highlighted the role of the Ahl al-Bayt in preserving the Islamic message and clarifying its concepts to Islamic societies. The participants discussed the importance of returning to this reference in confronting the intellectual and religious challenges facing the Islamic world today.
