The two lecturers at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Amer Abdullah Jaber and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Jasib Jabbar, participated in the committee to discuss a doctoral thesis in the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources on the physiological responses of juveniles of salt-tolerant shrimp and the effect of silver and chitosan nanoparticles on growth parameters.
The study aimed to know the physiology of the fat shrimp in the natural environment through differences in the proportions of body components and studying the ions and minerals present in the lymph and body, as well as knowing the effect of two types of silver and chitosan nanoparticles prepared in the laboratory on growth and immunity parameters in the fat shrimp.
The study concluded that there is an effect of the environment on the composition of the body and the overall physiological activities.
The study recommended the possibility of benefiting from the green tea plant and the shells of some uneconomic crustaceans in the production of nanomaterials to improve the reality of aquaculture.
The necessity of exploiting the fat shrimp in the river environment in aquaculture activities as an important food resource and reducing fishing during feeding and reproduction seasons by using nanotechnology to achieve the best growth and survival rates.
