The Department of Geography and Psychological and Educational Sciences, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra, organized a scientific symposium that addressed the phenomenon of divorce, its causes and its social and psychological effects.
The symposium aimed to shed light on the reasons for the high divorce rates in Iraqi society and ways to address them.
The symposium, presented by Dr. Bushra Ramadan Muhammad, Dr. Zainab Faleh Hussein and Dr. Osama Hamid Majeed, highlighted the effects of divorce on the family, which is the basic nucleus for building society, with a focus on its negative repercussions on children and society in general.
The symposium addressed appropriate solutions to confront this phenomenon, noting the importance of Sharia and legal issues in addressing this problem
