A master's thesis at the Qurna College of Education at the University of Basra investigated the isolation and diagnosis of some bacterial species from the upper respiratory tract and skin of sheep and cows, and testing their drug sensitivity in the Qurna District.
The thesis presented by student Salma Abdel Hussein Daoud aimed to identify the bacterial types that cause respiratory infections and abscesses in livestock.
The letter included the isolation of 50 samples from infected sheep and cows, which were diagnosed chemically and biologically, and the diagnosis was confirmed with the 16S rRNA gene. 27 samples were also isolated for the first time from cattle in northern Basra, registered at NCBI, and a drug sensitivity test was conducted for the samples.
