The University of Basrah- College of Medicine held a grand celebration on Monday, 24th of February 2025, on the occasion of obtaining full accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq, in appreciation of the efforts and the achievements made in the field of medical education.
The ceremony, which was attended by an academic and official personnel, included a speech (on the behalf of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim Al-Asadi) by the University Administrative Assistant and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Nawfal Ali Al-Mubarak, in which he stated that this achievement would not have been achieved without the great efforts made by College members, students, and all those who have dedicated themselves to serving science and knowledge in order to improve the quality of medical education for University of Basrah, and this is only a step in the path of excellence that we seek and aspire through it to reach international accreditation.
The manager of Basrah General Health Department, Consultant Dr. Abbas Khalaf Al-Tamimi, stated in his speech that accreditation is not just a certificate hung on the walls, but rather a certificate of confidence from the world in the quality of the outputs of the College of Medicine and its ability to graduate qualified medical doctors who contribute to building a sustainable health system. The manager of Basrah General Health Department, the chief of the Doctors Syndicate in Basrah, Dr. Wissam Al-Radini, the representative of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq, Dr. Hilal Al-Saffar, the administrative members, and all those who work in order to obtain accreditation, and the top students in the college were honored during the Ceremony
