
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized a symposium on first aid, with the participation of a group of professors and students of the college.
The symposium, which was lectured by Professor Dr. Nawfal Ali Al-Mubarak, Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs and Dean of the College of Medicine, included a theoretical and practical lecture on how to provide first aid in emergency cases, deal with suffocation (partial and total), deal with cases of epilepsy, accidents and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The symposium aims to spread the culture of first aid in order to increase medical and health awareness among students, and to reduce as much as possible the harmful effects resulting from the injury, while calling paramedics to transport the injured person as quickly as possible so that his first aid can be completed.
Professor Dr. Asaad Muhammad Kazim, Dean of the College of Dentistry, indicated that this symposium enables dentists to deal with emergency cases and provide assistance to those who need it, and to introduce students to first aid, its importance and the conditions that must be met by the paramedic, as well as the contents of the first aid box and how to deal with critical emergency cases.
