The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra held a festival in conjunction with the celebration of International Women's Day. The festival was opened with the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran, followed by a moment of silence and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, then listening to the national anthem.
The celebration, which was implemented and supervised by the teacher Farah Abdul-Zarq, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit, included a video presentation about Women's Day, artistic and cultural activities and performances, and honoring creative women and active female figures in society.
Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Taha Yassin, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, praised the distinguished role and courage of Iraqi women throughout the ages and their standing by men at all times, wishing happiness and safety for every Iraqi family.
Celebrating International Women's Day is an appreciation of the role played by women in all areas of community service, as we must salute them on this occasion as they were able to overcome all obstacles.
