The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized an educational seminar on suicide and self-destruction: Violence that violates the security of Iraqi society, with the participation of faculty members, staff and students.
The seminar aims to support individuals who suffer from suicidal tendencies or harsh life experiences that may lead them to commit suicide to overcome these crises by opening new horizons through dialogue and reaching permanent solutions through civil society institutions and social solidarity.
The seminar, in which the lecturer, Assistant Professor Dr. Rafeef Abdul-Hafiz Muhammad Taqi, lectured, included several topics, including defining suicide, its causes and types, and how to prevent it.
The seminar came out with several recommendations, the most important of which are: addressing the phenomenon of suicide by eliminating social and psychological problems and reducing them by finding appropriate solutions for them by all available means and holding awareness seminars for young people to reduce this phenomenon.
