The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on "Breast tumors: factors, risk and diagnosis". The lecture, presented by the lecturer, Asst. Dr. Rafid Abdul Jabbar Muhammad, a consultant general surgeon - Department of Surgery / College of Medicine, indicated that breast tumors are one of the most common diseases worldwide, and represent a great psychological burden on the patient, especially in the initial diagnosis stage.
The lecture discussed recent statistics on breast tumors and their importance, in addition to practical notes on breast anatomy and tissues. The factors that increase the risk of infection were also addressed, which were classified into modifiable and non-modifiable factors.
The lecture aims to enhance the understanding of researchers and students in the fields of surgery and life sciences of this disease, in addition to facilitating the exchange of opinions and experiences on modern techniques used in diagnosis and treatment, which positively reflects on improving medical efficiency in this field.
The lecturer recommended the need for early diagnosis of breast tumors, as it contributes significantly to improving the chances of treatment and increasing the rates of recovery.
