The Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, organized a scientific workshop on the concepts of justice and human rights, promoting the values of peace and tolerance, and resisting extremism. Lecturers Dr. Fatima Jassim and Assistant Professor Riyad Hussein Taqi addressed the importance of promoting the values of tolerance and love among all segments of the Iraqi people and working to deepen the bonds of peaceful coexistence, which establishes a democratic state that includes all segments of the Iraqi people and promotes their development, advancement, and prosperity. This workshop is part of a series of workshops conducted by the College Deanship as part of the implementation of the national plan.The workshop aimed to raise awareness and educate students to combat violent extremism that leads to terrorism. By highlighting the challenges posed by extremism and violence to societies and addressing ways to prevent them by promoting the values of tolerance and mutual respect between cultures and religions.The workshop saw students interact with the lecture by asking questions and making contributions that emphasized that combating extremism requires concerted efforts between government institutions, civil society organizations, and the local community.
