The Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a scientific symposium entitled "Teaching Thinking Skills," with the participation of a number of academics and specialists in the field of education and psychological guidance. The symposium aimed to introduce the concept of thinking, types of intellectual skills, and mechanisms for developing them, while enhancing students' critical and creative thinking skills. The symposium, presented by Dr. Sanaa Al-Jumaan, Dr. Tahani Anwar Ismail, and Dr. Nawal Muhammad Assaf, included several topics that addressed defining types of thinking, focusing on critical thinking and methods for developing it in students. It also highlighted the importance of scientific and creative thinking in students' lives, and ways to develop thinking skills through vocational training, which contributes to improving students' academic performance at various stages of their studies
