The History Department at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a discussion panel on genocide and its repercussions on Islamic society until the end of the Umayyad era.
The panel aimed to shed light on the most prominent massacres and slaughters targeting Islamic society and their repercussions on the social structure and balance of power.
The panel, presented by graduate student Ahmed Taha Abdul Ali, addressed the term genocide, the most significant genocidal crimes that occurred in the early Islamic era, their motives and the methods used to eliminate groups that opposed the ruling authorities. It also addressed the authorities' justifications for genocide and their exploitation of it for their own personal interests, and analyzed the historical and political dimensions of these events
