The College of Education/Qurnah at the University of Basra held a seminar on studying the effect of the active compounds of the hot aqueous extract of basil leaves on some blood, biochemical and histological parameters of male rats induced with diabetes.
The study included identifying the active compounds in the hot aqueous extract of basil leaves, and studying their effect on hematological, biochemical, and histological parameters after inducing diabetes in laboratory male rats using alloxan, and treating them with the extract within specific periods.
The study also aimed to determine the effects of administration of the toxic compound alloxan on hematological, biochemical, and histological parameters, and to determine the histological changes that occur after administration of the extract and treatment.
