The technical staff at the Date Palm Research Center has completed the routine maintenance of the lighting system in the tissue culture laboratory, replacing damaged units and adjusting lighting patterns to suit the various growth stages of tissue-cultured plants.
Dr. Khayoun Ali Mohsen, Head of the Propagation Department, stated that the change in lighting color and pattern is based on the latest research and the plants' ability to benefit from the light spectrum emitted by the lamps. Fluorescent lamps were replaced with compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) due to their higher efficiency and longer lifespan.
