The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on "Ringworm infections," superficial skin infections (impetigo), their types, and their prevalence, particularly among children in schools in Basra Governorate.
The scientific lecture aimed to raise awareness and knowledge about the causes of this dangerous fungal skin disease, methods of preventing the disease caused by dermatophytes, and the transmission of infection among the targeted age groups. It also addressed the prevalence of the disease among children, as well as treatment methods using antifungal creams, which are common treatments.
The lecture, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Reham Mohammed Al-Mousawi, addressed the transmission of infection from infected individuals, pets raised in infected homes, especially cats and dogs, and soil containing spores of this fungus.
