A doctoral dissertation at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra examined the role of land transportation in developing tourist sites in Dhi Qar Governorate. The dissertation, presented by student Ali Abdul Karim Jawad Al-Hijami, aimed to demonstrate the impact of land transportation on the development of tourist sites in Dhi Qar Governorate by identifying its types, patterns, and potential. It also aimed to clarify the interconnected relationship between land transportation and the development of tourist sites, with accessibility, safety, and enjoyment as its primary goals. This is achieved by understanding the spatial relationship of land transportation and its connection to tourist sites in Dhi Qar Governorate, and its ability to connect these two sectors. It also highlighted the positive aspects, developing and enhancing them, and identified the negative aspects and attempted to develop appropriate solutions. It also studied the characteristics of tourist movement and the factors influencing it, particularly transportation. The thesis included the impact of transportation methods and means on activating the tourism sector in Dhi Qar Governorate, as transportation is one of the most important reasons for the development and prosperity of tourism activity in any country. It is not possible to talk about developing the tourism sector without the presence of an effective and advanced transportation system, and focusing on land transportation (cars) because of its major role in achieving the highest possibility of access and spatial connection on the one hand and reducing the natural distance gap towards tourist sites on the other hand. Therefore, it is necessary to intensify the study on the effectiveness of spatial relationships between tourist sites and the land transportation system by cars in the study area
