The College of Nursing at the University of Basra participated in the central celebration marking its sixty-first anniversary, with the participation of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad al-Nawab, and the attendance of a large gathering of professors, employees, and government officials. For his part, the President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad al-Asadi, said at the opening of the festival ceremony, "The University of Basra, which began with five colleges: Arts, Engineering, Economics, Science, and Law in 1964, now has more than (21) scientific colleges. This towering edifice has remained, over the decades, a beacon of knowledge and a source of intellectual and cultural radiance that its people are proud of. The University of Basra has written bright pages of achievements over those years, and today it is lighting a new candle to complete its journey towards brilliance and excellence." For his part, the Dean of the College of Nursing, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, honored distinguished faculty and staff members, including Lecturer Afkar Fadhel Karim, Head of the Nursing Fundamentals Department, and Ms. Sana Kazim Ibrahim from the Accounting Department. The ceremony featured several highlights, including the screening of documentary films highlighting the University of Basra's rich history, its impact on Basra society, and its most significant academic achievements. The ceremony also honored the sports teams that won first place against Iraqi universities in the chess and indoor football championships. The ceremony also honored outstanding deans of colleges and department directors, as well as distinguished faculty and staff members from the university's centers and colleges.
