Under the auspices of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Jawad al-Asadi, and under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nasser Samari Jafar, the Department of musical arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Basra, organized its first music festival under the slogan "between the strings we tell the stories of melodies", Dr. Nasser Hashim's course, at the Basra Times Square mall theater, amid a wide attendance that included a group of academics, intellectuals, media and an audience of music lovers.
The festival aims to highlight the creative energies of the Department's students and professors by presenting academic musical works that deal with high-end and meaningful art, and seeks to build bridges of communication between the academic institution and the cultural and artistic community in the city.
The festival included a diverse artistic program, which included musical performances by the morning and evening study choir, the band of the Department of musical arts, the band of the professors of the department, in addition to the participation of the band of the expert, Professor Tarek Shaaban, the Noah and Lou Music Group, in addition to a number of individual and Group pieces that varied between classical and contemporary colors.
The festival was a vital artistic and cultural space that contributed to showcasing the talents of young people and supporting local musical energies, within an academic framework that seeks to preserve the musical identity and enhance its presence in visual cultural circles.
