The Department of geoscience at the college of science at the University of Basra discussed a doctoral thesis entitled : determination of surface and subsurface structures using gravity, seismic and remote sensing techniques along the axes of folds in mansuriya, Red Velvet, and engana in north-eastern Iraq," presented by student Fadel Abdul Abbas Obaid .The study aimed at analyzing and interpreting the geological structure in the mentioned areas by integrating geophysical data with synthetic analyses and spatial data, which contributed to clarifying the nature of active structural deformations, identifying faults and subsurface folds. The results showed the presence of complex buried structures within the range of active creeping folds. The study recommended the need to generalize this integrated method to other regions in Iraq, especially tectonically active areas, for its role in supporting geological risk assessment and exploration of natural resources of economic importance.
