Two lecturers at the Marine Science Center at the University of Basra, Dr. Ahmed Yousef Hamoud and Dr. Muhannad Kazim Taher, published a scientific study in collaboration with other researchers entitled "Using Magnetic Nanomaterials to Remove Congo Red from Aqueous Solutions" in the journal Advances in Natural Sciences, published by IOP Publishing, which covers all aspects of nanoscience.
The study, published in Scopus and Clarivate Q2, has an impact factor of 1.7.
The study addressed the preparation of a magnetic nanocomposite with the formula Co0.5Cr0.5Fe2O4 using the spontaneous combustion sol-gel method using lemon juice as the reaction fuel. This method falls within green chemistry, is environmentally friendly, and is low-cost compared to other methods.
The study aimed to use the prepared nanocomposite as an adsorbent surface in the process of removing Congo Red from aqueous solutions. The goal was to determine the effectiveness of this surface and its potential use as an adsorbent surface to treat cases of contamination with this substance. Pollutants.
