Abdulaziz Abood Al-Nasir, faculty member at the Polymer Research Center – University of Basrah, participated as an examining committee member in the PhD thesis defense of Suhad Abdul Majeed Abdul Sattar from the Department of Biology – Medical Mycology specialization.
The defense took place on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Department of Biology Hall – College of Science, for the thesis titled:
"Synthesis of Nanoparticles by Using Fungi with Some Medical Applications"
The study adopted a novel approach to utilizing environmental fungi for the green synthesis of gold and selenium nanoparticles, and tested their effectiveness as antifungal agents, aligning with current trends in bionanotechnology.
The examination committee, which included a distinguished group of specialists, offered several scientific observations—most notably those presented by Dr. Einas Al-Nasir in the areas of nanoparticle characterization using UV-Vis, FTIR, TEM, and XRD techniques—emphasizing the importance of precise analysis and in-depth interpretation of results.
The defense was attended by a number of researchers, professors, and postgraduate students, and the audience praised the significance of the topic and its role in supporting the global shift toward safe, sustainable medical solutions as alternatives to chemical antimicrobials.
