Dr. Murtada Abbas Faleh, a lecturer at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra, has published a new book titled "Linguistic Excerpts from the Covenant of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) to Malik al-Ashtar."
The book contains 176 pages divided into twenty sections that form the substance of the covenant.
The book addresses the content of the covenant that Imam Ali (peace be upon him) addressed to Malik al-Ashtar when he appointed him governor of Egypt, which is considered one of the most important political and moral documents in Islamic history. It also examines the phonetic and linguistic dimensions of the covenant's sections, explaining the lexical, contextual, and rhetorical connotations of the words, and highlighting the means and methods used by Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in formulating a discourse that has become, over the centuries, a constitution for just rule and a model for virtuous living
