The Polymer Research Center at Basrah University, in cooperation with the Basrah Environment Directorate, organized a workshop on water purification and treatment methods. The workshop aimed to support research and sustainability plans to eliminate pollutants in the Shatt al-Arab and protect the biodiversity of living organisms. The workshop, presented by Dr. Abdullah Abbas Hussein and Dr. Zainab Jumaa Suwaih, explained how to use polymers to remove heavy metals and dyes from industrial, agricultural, and human waste. This is achieved by using laboratory-prepared gels made from natural polymers, and by encouraging sustainable agricultural practices
