The College of Education for Pure Sciences is researching a doctoral thesis on the preparation, characterization, analytical and biological study of some new azo dyes derived from some pharmaceutical preparations. The thesis submitted by the researcher (Alaa Adnan Badr) included the preparation of new L14-L1 azo compounds and their characterization using modern analytical techniques. The results of the precise elemental analysis of the L14-L1 azo compounds showed that the theoretical values of the proposed formulas are close to the practical values, which means that the proposed chemical structures of the compounds are correct. The possibility of using azo dyes L7, L4, and L3 as indicators in the process of saturations (strong acid - strong base and weak acid - strong base) instead of phenolphthalein and methyl orange because they have different colors in acidic and basic environments. The possibility of estimating the nitrite ion from solutions of azo compounds L7 and L4. The effect of azo compounds L14-L1 on bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) and bacteria (Escherichia coli). The effect of azo compounds L14-L1 on fungi (Candida albicans) and also the effect of azo compounds L14-L1 on fungi (Aspergillus niger). Tests for the formation of azo complexes with a number of metal ions showed the interaction of azo compound L4 with cobalt(II) ion (Co2+), azo compound L7 with copper(II) ion (Cu2+), azo compound L10 with nickel(II) ion (Ni2+), and a study of the optimum conditions for the formation of complexes. A study of the determination of ratios showed The molecular weight of the complexes L4-Co, L7-Cu, L10-Ni is 2:1 (Ligand:Metal) using the continuous variation method.
