The study discussed the importance of analyzing the literature that has been written about Arab and Islamic history, according to the procedures of critical discourse analysis, to reveal those biases and hidden aspects, and the ideological, political, sectarian, or cultural goals they seek, especially in the literature that is intended to be educational curricula.
The message aimed to demonstrate that the primary function behind education discourse is not limited to reporting, or conveying news and information, but rather goes beyond that to bringing about social change, by influencing and modifying attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.
The study concluded that manipulation of news and information leads to misleading readers and distorting public opinion. Therefore, the importance of monitoring and diagnosing contradictions lies in revealing the position of the producer of the discourse, who leans toward opposing trends and changes with the context, in order to achieve his goals, even if they are in conflict with what was mentioned elsewhere.
The study concluded by submitting an appeal to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to form specialized committees to compose a curriculum “in the history of Arabic literature,” provided that it carries pedagogical goals and values that are compatible with our social, religious, and cultural structure.
