The College of Education for Pure Sciences has researched a doctoral thesis on (An immunological and molecular study of type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients in Basra Governorate). The thesis presented by the researcher (researcher Hoda Kazem Karim Al-Moussawi) included the study of the role of B lymphocytes and their relationship to type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) by measuring the levels of concentrations of cellular markers expressed on the membranes of B lymphocytes, which are CD19 and CD23. The study showed that B lymphocytes were affected by low concentrations of anti-inflammatory interleukins that were covered in the study, which are interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interleukin 10 (IL-10), one of the reasons for which was the polymorphism of the genetic patterns of both interleukins, which the study revealed using ARMS-PCR technology, which revealed the polymorphism of the IL-4 gene at the mutation site 590 - C>T It was found that the CC genotype is a potential risk factor for T1D and T2D diabetes. The study also examined the polymorphism of the IL-10 gene promoter at the mutant site 1082-A/G and found that the AG genotype is a potential risk factor for T1D and T2D diabetes
