A master's thesis at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra examined the role of water in generating electricity in the governorate.
The thesis, presented by student Fatima Fawzi Dabbah, aimed to identify the importance of water in generating electricity. This helped draw a picture of the distribution relative to the locations of these stations, and then identify the effective role of geographical features.
The thesis included the concept of water, its role in generating electricity, its importance, the water sources used in it, its historical development, and a study of the geographical, natural, human, and economic features that contributed effectively to the establishment of these stations in the governorate. It also examined the use of water in steam, gas, and diesel power generation plants
