A master's thesis from the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra examined the effect of plant extracts and nano-selenium on the biochemical and anatomical characteristics of mango seedlings growing under the conditions of Basra Governorate.
The thesis, presented by graduate student Nour Abdul Razzaq Abdullah and supervised by Professor Wassan Fawzi Fadhel and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Youssef Lafta, aimed to use two types of plant extracts: Morinka and Damascena, in addition to the use of nano-selenium at different concentrations as a foliar spray.
The thesis concluded that the use of plant extracts, selenium, and their interaction improved mango plant growth indicators, which had a positive impact on growth indicators.
The thesis recommended the use of Morinka and Damascena plant extracts and nano-selenium as sprays on other plants to combat salt stress and expand the propagation and cultivation of mango trees in Basra Governorate due to their economic role.
