The Agricultural Advisory Office at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Aid Gateway Organization, organized an online seminar on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 9:00 PM, via Zoom. The seminar was titled "Water Management and Modern Irrigation Technologies." The seminar aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the challenges facing water management and provide solutions for modern irrigation and agricultural technologies in the Shatt al-Arab and Zubair districts, which are being implemented with funding from GIZ and Tearfund
The symposium recommended the adoption and implementation of modern drip irrigation technologies and the use of renewable energy systems, such as solar energy, in drip irrigation systems and other modern systems to improve water management under changing climate conditions, such as scarcity and salinity of irrigation water in Basra Governorate, as well as increasing farmers' awareness and knowledge of the use of modern systems and technologies in agriculture in Basra Governorate.
