A PhD thesis at the University of Basrah investigates the effects of Nano-Silymarin
The PhD thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah investigated the preventive and therapeutic effects of Nano-Silymarin on physiological parameters associated with hepatotoxicity in female rats.
The thesis, presented by researcher Nisreen Yasser Jassim, aimed to assessed the preventive and therapeutic effects of Nano-Silymarin on some biochemical, histological, and physiological parameters following experimentally induced liver toxicity using carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄) in female laboratory rats.
The thesis concluded that Nano-Silymarin has a clear therapeutic effect compared to conventional silymarin, through improving the hepatic indicators and minimized histological and cellular changes in liver tissues
The thesis recommended the need to promote the use of nanotechnology in herbal extracts due to its effective role in enhancing Bio-absorption efficiency and pharmacological efficacy, while also underlined the importance of performing further studies to assure the safety and effectiveness of these formulations in clinical applications.
