Statement of Condemnation
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Presidency of the University of Basra condemns, in the strongest terms, the threat against Professor Abdul-Hussein Tawfiq, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics. This attack undermines the academic institution's prestige and is inconsistent with its ethical and societal values.
While expressing its full solidarity with the Dean, the University affirms its absolute rejection of any form of threat, extortion, or pressure targeting academics and administrators who are performing their professional and ethical duty in serving the nation and students.
The University Presidency calls on the security forces and relevant authorities to open an urgent investigation into the incident, prosecute those behind these acts, and provide the necessary protection for the Dean and all university members.
The University of Basra, with its rich academic history and national significance, will not tolerate any threat on its campus that compromises the dignity of its members or impacts their academic performance. It will take all legal measures to protect its institutions and staff.
