The University of Basrah's Presidency condemns, in the strongest terms, the threat against Prof.Dr. Abdul-Hussein Tawfiq, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics. This threat undermines the prestige of the academic institution and is inconsistent with ethical and societal values.
While the University expresses its full solidarity with the Dean, it affirms its categorical rejection of any form of threat, extortion, or pressure targeting academics and administrators who are undermining their professional and ethical duty to serve the nation and its students.
The University Presidency calls on the security forces and relevant authorities to open an urgent investigation into the incident, prosecute those behind these acts, and provide the necessary protection for the Dean and all university members.
University of Basrah, with its academic history and national role, will not allow its campus to be subjected to any threat that undermines the dignity of its members or affects their academic performance. It will take all legal measures to protect its institutions and staff.
