A PhD thesis in the Department of Geography / College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basra. Spatial Analysis of the Labor Force in Large Manufacturing Industries in Basra Governorate.
The thesis, submitted by student Wafaa Salman Hassan, aims to identify the reality of the labor force in terms of its high numbers in large manufacturing industries in Basra, and to identify the nature of the problems they face in order to propose appropriate solutions.
The thesis included geographical factors such as location, structure, and proximity to resources. The population of Basra Governorate is (3,253,338), and the total labor force is (23,438) workers, distributed across (120) industrial facilities in large manufacturing industries. The thesis identified the administrative units (districts) in which industrial facilities are concentrated, as well as the unbalanced geographical concentration of industrial facilities, which deepens the development gaps between the governorate's districts. This is similar to the concentration of industries in Al-Zubair District, Basra District, and Abu Al-Khaseeb District, compared to districts that suffer from a lack of industries, such as Al-Sadiq District and Al-Deir District
