As part of the scientific cooperation and cultural program of the Agricultural Extension and Training Department at the Basra Agriculture Directorate, a lecture entitled:
"Using Nanotechnology in Wastewater Treatment" was given. It was delivered by Dr. Shaymaa Abdul Kareem Al-Naimi from the University of Basra, Polymer Research Center, Department of Materials Science.
The lecture covered several main topics, most notably:
✅ An introduction to nanotechnology.
✅ The advantages of nanotechnology in water desalination, filtration, and purification.
✅ Types of nanofilters and their uses in treatment.
✅ Types of wastewater.
✅ Membrane resistance to clogging and the problem of salts.
The lecture was attended by Dr. Faleh Al-Moussawi, President of the Basra Branch of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, and a large number of employees from the Directorate. It witnessed widespread interaction from the audience, given the importance of the topic in light of the scarcity of water and the deterioration of its quality in Iraq.
Dr. Al-Naimi also answered the attendees' questions, affirming her readiness to cooperate in holding more scientific seminars in the future, in coordination with the Directorate.
