A doctoral dissertation at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra examined the effectiveness of an educational program based on certain mental processes in achieving and developing computer skills among second-year intermediate students in the computer science subject.
The dissertation, presented by student Ahmed Qasim Hassan, aimed to identify "the effectiveness of an educational program based on certain mental processes in achieving and developing computer skills among second-year intermediate students in the computer science subject." To achieve the research objective and hypotheses, the experimental research method and the experimental design with partial control were adopted for two equivalent groups. The sample number was (120) students from the second-year intermediate students. The researcher used two tools: a post-achievement test and a pre- and post-computer skills test.
The thesis included the research of the first tool (achievement test) showing that the students of the experimental group who studied with the educational program based on some mental processes outperformed the students of the control group who studied with the traditional method, and the results of the test of the second tool (computer skills test) showed that the students of the experimental group outperformed the students of the control group. The researcher concluded that the educational program prepared according to mental processes has a positive effect on achievement and the development of computer skills. The researcher recommended the necessity of including rehabilitation and training programs for computer teachers on how to prepare educational programs
