On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Department of Geology, College of Science, held a Master's thesis defense for graduate student Fatima Fakher Abu Turab. Her thesis was titled: "Systematic, Distribution, and Ecology of Foraminifera and Ostracoda in the Marine Waters off Um Qasr Port, South Iraq."
The thesis was completed under the supervision of Professor Hamid Al-Saad, in collaboration with Dr. Abbas Hamid.
The defense committee consisted of several professors specializing in geology and marine biology. They discussed the content of her thesis and the adopted scientific methodology with the student, praising her efforts and the results she reached.
At the conclusion of the defense, the committee decided to award the student a Master's degree with distinction, wishing her continued success in her academic career.
